Andrew
Giddings has just finished a solo album titled "Picture
This." The album is available at his website for now but

Here's Ian's review:
"I began listening to the CD of new works by Andrew
Giddings, which arrived just in time before my departure to
a concert tour abroad, with no expectation at all as to the
contents and with an open mind.
The immediate reaction was to imagine a world of possible
images and visual connotations, triggered by the vast soundscapes
of the music. I thought instantly of flying, surrounded by
clouds - both benign and threatening - and intriguing whisps
of melody followed by big, dramatic moments and dense, swirling
moods. I wonder if Andrew's aviation interests and flying
experiences of recent years are behind this set of evocative
tunes?
Later tracks in the set semed more firmly fixed on the ground
with middle-eastern references and hypnotic rhythmic passages
reminiscent of his work with me on my solo albums of a few
years ago.
Good to hear the man of a thousand keyboard samples (and a
goodly number of fully working fingers) back on the case of
making music to generate pictures in the mind of the listener.
Close your eyes, sit back and take to skies with the reassuring
knowledge that there is a man of experience safely at the
controls while you make your own private mind-movie to the
soundtrack."
