Andrew Giddings' Diary - January 2002 We're
back!Sorry about the unreliability of our server recently, if I had any hair to pull out I promise you I would have done so. Anyway, where were we? You probably already read about the forthcoming DVD - on Thursday myself and Ian are spending the day with a string quartet and we're going to record a couple of Tull tunes in a Victorian tearoom styley. I reworked some existing but not-so-audible string parts at my studio after which Ian came for an afternoon and we both stared at a computer screen for a couple of hours. We then had the task of having the computer version made into the stuff that real musicians can deal with......sheet music. It's a mystery to me I can tell you, and it will be interesting to see what our quartet for the day make of it all next week. You will have read also that I'm heavily involved in D.I.Y at the moment and for me that acronym should stand for 'Don't Involve Yourself'. It really is amazing how a simple paint job can develop into a huge drama involving a million cans of different coloured paint and a collection of newly purchase tools that never seem to do the job they were designed for. Is it just me or does everyone have this kind of trouble? I mean, is there anyone out there who actually likes doing this stuff? I went to so much trouble covering things up with bits of paper and old sheets only to walk in the mess they had attracted and transfer it all over the house.......Grrrrrr. On the brighter side, when it's finished it'll be great and everyone's invited to the house-warming, so look out for your invite in the mail :-) You will have (hopefully) seen on the front page that there is now the facility to email us. Actually there always has been but for some reason some people were unable to find the 'email me' Hyperlink that appeared on
everyone's Biog., Diary and Equipment pages. The only one not to have an
email address is, still, Martin. Evidently though, his lovely wife Julie
is dragging him kicking and screaming into the 21st century so continue
to check his pic on the home page. Finally then, to the tour. It's going to be summer before we know it (hooray!!)and if you live in the USA we will be on your doorstep any day now. As always I'm looking forward to it immensely and have already started to pack my bathing costume and swimming cap. That reminds me - I must bring my stage clothes too. Thanks to those folks who sent pictures of recent concerts. Do I really pull those faces when I'm working? Man! Ok you lovely people, I know it was brief but it's time you got off the computer and did that thing you were gonna do yesterday. I will resume my home 'improvements' and psyche myself up for the summer. See you soon, Andrew. p.s. Anyone know how I can get white gloss paint out of my woolly bedsocks? |
